The RANDOM ORBITAL function of the LHR15III Polisher allows the backing plate to follow an orbit, the amplitude of which depends on the distance between the rotation axis of the drive shaft and the central axis of the backing plate. The backing plate is free to rotate at varying velocities and directions, driven by the centrifugal force of the offset movement and the effects of friction. If the friction forces prevent the disc from rotating, the random orbital movement will simply become an orbital movement.
